Aaron Rice, 78, of Cambridge, died Saturday (July 21, 2007) at the Red Carpet Health Care Center, Cambridge. He was born on December 24, 1928 in Weirton, West Virginia, son of the late Aaron Rice Sr. and Irene (Dawkins) Rice Kimber. Mr. Rice worked for Miller Pipeline, Peabody Coal and Plastic Compounders. He was also the owner of A&R Hauling for twenty-two years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Rice was a member of the Shafer Chapel AME of Cambridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Ozzie "Toby" Kimber; a brother, James Rice; two sisters, Lea-Esther Motley and Elizabeth Ann Holmes; and three granddaughters, Elicia Vonda Rae, Riyeasa A'ron and Minnecca Von Rae Lawrence. He leaves his wife, Veronica (Logwood) Rice of the home, whom he married on November 9, 1964; a son, Eric (& Kecia) Rice of Dixon MO; Faith (& Kevin) Rogers of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Erica Rice and Tamara Rice both of Dixon MO and Byron Rice, currently serving in the U.S. Air Force; numerous nieces & nephews, including William "Skipper" Holmes of Kokomo IN, Rodney Holmes of Lotron VA, Jeffrey Holmes of Weirton WV and Kimberly Holmes of Indianapolis IN; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bethel Winston, Rev. Barbara Earley, Rev. Diana and Billy Payton, Mr. & Mrs. Melvin (Brenda) Blanchard, Mr. & Mrs. Michael (Phylis) Mack, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph (Christy) Logwood, Mr. & Mrs. Garey (Sabrina) Logwood, Mr. & Mrs. Charles (Rosalind) Logwood, Mr. & Mrs. Timothy (Deborah) Logwood and Mr. Chris (Sandy) Logwood. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Wednesday (July 25, 2007) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randolph White officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
