Alan J. Peterson, 59, of Columbus, died Wednesday (September 7, 2011) at his home. He was born March 25, 1952 in Xenia, son of Hildred (Fenlason) Peterson and the late Jay "Duke" Peterson. Mr. Peterson was a financial advisor with The Peterson Companies. He was an enrolled agent and also a financial advisor with First Global Capital Corporation of Dallas TX. He was a member of the Pataskala Grace Brethren Church. Mr. Peterson was a member of "HOG" - Harleys Owners Group; an Eagle Scout; and a member of the Ohio River Valley Win Team. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Richard Eschbaugh. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Eschbaugh) Peterson, whom he married March 1, 1990; his mother, Hildred Peterson of Johnstown; a son, Clint (& Kaci Lashley) Willey of Cambridge; two daughters, Annie (& Troy) Bates of Byesville and Carey (& Robert) Anderson of Florida; a brother, James Peterson of Red Oaks IA; four grandchildren, Stephen Blackstone, Erika Bates, Abby Bates, and Kendra Bates; a great-grandson, Caiden Roberts; his mother-in-law, Eloise Eschbaugh of Byesville; two nieces, Jennifer (& John) Jordan and Jessica (& Jared) Schwendeman; three nephews, Axle, Devin, and Kyle; a great-niece, Ella Raeann Schwendeman; a great-nephew, Sage Richard Jordan; his brother-in-law, Fred Eschbaugh and his wife Kathy and their son Timmy of Georgia; his sister-in-law, Jeanne Eschbaugh of Columbus; and several close friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday (September 11, 2011) at 3:30 p.m. at the Pataskala Grace Brethren Church, 3517 Headleys Mill Road South, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh and Pastor Fenton McDonald officiating. A private family burial service will be held at a later date at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Alan's name may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria VA 22312; or 2) Pataskala Grace Brethren Church Children's Program, 3517 Headleys Mill Road South, Pataskala OH 43062.
