Alan T. Rogers

Alan T. Rogers, 81, of Cambridge, passed away Wednesday (March 27, 2013). He was born April 2, 1931 in Byesville, son of the late Russell and Hazel Rogers. Mr. Rogers retired after 40 years from Champion Spark Plug. He was a 1949 graduate of Community High School. He was member of Chalfant's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of Byesville Masonic Lodge # 654 F&AM; a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge; and he served as chairman for the Guernsey County 4-H Sheep Committee for thirty years. Mr. Rogers was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Kilburn) Rogers of the home, whom he married September 11, 1955; three sons, Jay (Amanda) Rogers of Pleasant City, Jamie (Lonna) Rogers of Cambridge, and Joe (Jessica) Rogers of Cambridge; four daughters, Jody (Mike) Beardmore of Zanesville, Jill (Jim) McManaway of Cambridge, Jean Ann (Mike) Patridge of San Francisco CA, and Joslyn (Bob) Dalton of Cleveland; a sister, Mildred Dearth of Senecaville; seventeen grandchildren, Aaron (Cailia) Rogers, Greta Rogers, Terra Beardmore, Darrin (Amanda) Beardmore, Travis Kinnan, Tori (Scott) Sedor, Joshua and Tucker Rogers, Katie Hilgert, Elizabeth, Allison, and Jenna Patridge, Abby And Grant Dalton, Dallas, Peyton and Bailey Rogers; ten great-grandchildren, Chance, Ashlynn, Camden, Lane, Anna, Hayley, Boston, Maddy, Jalen, and Bentley; his close brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Nancy English of Cambridge and their daughter, Tonia, who was very special to Alan; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, on Saturday (March 30, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dave Janusik officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
