Albert Erven Beam

Albert Erven Beam, 94, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (August 11, 2009) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 21, 1914 in Cambridge, son of the late James Alonzo Beam and Ida (Patterson) Beam. He married Mary Kathryn (Mehok) Beam on June 28, 1934. Mr. Beam was retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where he had been a maintenance worker for many years. He was a life-long member of the Ninth Street United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn Beam, who died April 12, 2004; a son, Roy Beam; and two daughters, Rita Durben and Ruth Ann Laird. He is survived by a son, William L. "Bill" (& Judy) Beam of Cambridge; eight grandchildren, Kathy Balo, David Durben, Allen Beam, Lori Johnson, Trudy Noggle, Tom Coulter, Duane Beam and Tiffany Laird; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Saturday (August 15, 2009) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Hogue officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ninth Street United Methodist Church, 129 N 9th Street, Cambridge OH 43725.
