Alberta J. Carpenter

Alberta J. Carpenter, 86, of Quaker City, passed away Wednesday (April 4, 2018). She was born October 8, 1931 in Middlebourne, daughter of the late Frank Carter and Doris (Davis) Carter. Alberta was a 1951 graduate of Old Washington High School. She was formerly employed with East Guernsey Schools and RCA. She was a member of the Quaker City Central Christian Church, Pennyroyal Ruritan, and the Old Washington/Zane Trace/Buckeye Trail Alumni Banquet Committee. Along with her husband, she was part of the original Zane Trace/Buckeye Trail Athletic Booster Club that was created in 1976 and was inducted into the Buckeye Trail/East Guernsey Athletic Hall of Fame. She was known for her homemade noodles, ice cream, and popcorn balls at Halloween. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Carpenter, whom she married July 3, 1951 and who passed away June 9, 1987; three brothers, Frank Jr., Norman, and infant Charles; and three sisters, Leanna Chambers, Florence Starr, and infant Irene. She is survived by three sons, Nelson (& Melanie) Carpenter of Salesville, Bradley (& Rhonda) Carpenter, and Gordon (& Joyce) Carpenter of Quaker City; a daughter, Lori (& Jack) Marlin of Cambridge; two brothers, Paul Carter of Middlebourne and Robert Carter of Dayton; eight grandchildren, Sharon Bichard, Shannon Carpenter, Troy Carpenter, Karen Castello, Abby Marlin, Emily Bradley, Ashley Jackson, and Devon Carpenter; and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday (April 7, 2018) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quaker City Central Christian Church, PO Box 460, Quaker City OH 43773.
