Alfred "Jay" Mckinley Johnson Jr.

July 20, 1956 — November 3, 2021

Alfred Mckinley Johnson Jr., 65, of Cambridge, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday (November 3, 2021).  Alfred, also affectionately known as Jay or Jr., was a 1974 graduate of Cadiz High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Jay was a part of the laborers union and most recently retired from Kokosing after several years of service. Jay was driven, active, hardworking, and never met a stranger. He loved his family, the Steelers, and his beloved dog, Goliath.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Sr. and Virginia Johnson Ramsey; two sisters, Virginia Bell and Alfretta Johnson; and his father-in-law, Rev. Charles Simpson.

He is survived by his wife, Deirdre D. Johnson; his mother-in-law, Betty Simpson; two sisters, Georgia McCollins and Alfreda Goff; three stepdaughters, Kayla Hollins, Amanda Micale, and Ciara (Wes) Harding; seven grandchildren, Jada, Michael, Mya, Alivia, Madelyn, Avery, Monty, and an upcoming arrival; and several close nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved very much.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (November 9, 2021) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.

Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
