Alice Marie Baltz, a resident of Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cambridge and formerly of Whitehall, died Wednesday (October 9, 2013) at the nursing home. She was born March 10, 1940, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Lawrence A. Baltz and Helen (Swick) Baltz Newton. Alice graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1958. She worked at Frisch's Big Boy Restaurants in Columbus for many years and later cared for several children in her home. She enjoyed Springbok puzzles, crossword puzzles, Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State Football, playing Bingo, listening to Christian music on her radio, and her cats. Alice had a very generous heart and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was a lifelong Lutheran by faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, Otto Richard Butsch, and a niece, Tamara Lynn Butsch. She leaves two sisters, Flossie A. (Robert) Brown of Alexandria, and Norma J. Butsch of Anaheim, California; three nieces, Michelle (Richard) Riesbeck of Cambridge, Melissa (Joe) Malone of Johnstown, and Vicki (Greg) Gould of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two nephews, Rick (Erin) Butsch of Yorba Linda, California, and Robert (Molly) Brown of Bolivar; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (October 12, 2013) at Jefferson Township Cemetery, Blacklick, Ohio, with the Rev. Michael Poole officiating. Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, has been entrusted with arrangements.
