Alleen M. Miller, 90, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (April 23, 2019) at Beckett House in New Concord.

She was born May 6, 1928 in Glouster, daughter of the late Andrew Smile Mount and Lenora (Byers) Mount.

A 1946 graduate of Philo High School, Mrs. Miller was a registered nurse, receiving her nurse's training at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville. She had worked at Swan Hospital and for the Zanesville offices of Dr. Urban and Dr. Phillips. She then retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital as a supervisor.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Stop Nine Church of Christ, the Golden Sixties, Bethesda Hospital Alumni Association and the Stepping Stones of OVU.

Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She was truly the matriarch of the family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Ellis Miller, who died January 13, 2009. They were married July 22, 1951. Also deceased is a son, Scott Miller; a brother, George Mount; and a sister, Virgene DeVolld.

She is survived by three sons, Brent (& Judy) Miller of Cambridge, Eric (& Stephanie) Miller of Little Hocking, and Grant (& Jill) Miller of Marietta; a daughter, Lynn (& Ashley) Bettinger of Summerfield; a daughter-in-law, Mary Miller of Belpre; a brother-in-law, Flavil (& Verna) Miller of Cambridge; two sisters-in-law, Paula Mount of Florida and Carmie Green of New Concord; fifteen grandchildren, Shari (& Tom), Bryan (& Jenna), Natalie (& Clarke), Katrina (& J), Erica, Hillary (& Braden), Alexis (& Josh), Garrett, Meridith (& Nathan), Andrew, Abby (& Scott), Bethany (& Drew), Chloe (& London), Guiler, and Amy; nine great-grandchildren, Devin, Blake, Jackson, Hannah, Faith, Thaddeus, Mildred, Isaiah, and Brant; and two foster great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday (April 28, 2019) from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Funeral services will be held Monday (April 29, 2019) at 11 a.m. at the Stop Nine Church of Christ, Byesville, with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating.

Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Ohio Valley University, in care of Guernsey County Stepping Stones, 60330 Southgate Road, Byesville OH 43723.
