Barbara J. Harper, 77, of Newcomerstown and formerly of Old Washington, died Saturday (November 7, 2015) at her home. She was born January 18, 1938 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Harry Schimmel and Betty (Berstler) Schimmel. Mrs. Harper was a homemaker. She loved painting and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cambridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bull" Harper, who died November 28, 2002. They were married October 4, 1955. Also deceased are two brothers, Jack Schimmel and Billy Joe Schimmel; a daughter, Darla J. Robinson; a son, Jim Harper; and a granddaughter, Misty Harper. She is survived by three daughters, Dottie (& Jerry) Cutlip of Lisbon, Kay (& Carl) Cutlip of Newcomerstown, and Becky (& David) Oliver of Senecaville; a sister, Cindy (& Fred) Trubisky of Kimbolton; nine grandchildren, David G. Cutlip, Angela Cutlip, Jimmy D. Oliver, William E. Cutlip, Curtis Cutlip, Lee Ann Harper, B.J. Cutlip, David R. Oliver Jr., and Tyler Robinson; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (November 13, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Carl Cutlip officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
