Cambridge

Barbara May Hough, 77, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023, under hospice care at her home surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was born on December 26, 1945, in St Clairsville, Ohio to the late lsaac Junior and Edna (Ault) Conley.

Barbie was a St Clairsville High School graduate of the class of 1964. After graduating, she worked for the American Red Cross until 1966. She then worked for Penny Fair for a short time until she decided to stay home to raise her young kids. In 1975 she reentered the workforce at Montgomery Ward. In March of 1976 she started working for the Guernsey County Map Department where she later became the supervisor. She worked there for 47 years before finally retiring in May of this year. She really loved her job and working with the public. She developed many long-lasting friendships and earned the respect of many of her clientele.

Barbie was very involved in her community. She was a member of Cambridge Lioness, where she was President for one year, and The Guernsey County Lions Club. She volunteered a lot of her time helping to raise money and collecting items to be donated to those in need. She was a very charitable person who often made donations to many different organizations and was also very generous to her family and friends, helping out whenever she could. Her hobbies included her flowers and landscaping, shopping and decorating her home. She was previously in a bowling league and a part of the euchre club for many years.

Barbie really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Most weekends were spent with her kids and grandkids at her home, sometimes watching Ohio State Buckeye football or just simply enjoying a meal that was usually prepared by her husband. She loved watching all the kids at their activities or going to school events, or just simply being with them. She loved them all so much and was so proud of them. She and Denver enjoyed porch time as well as visiting friends, driving to different places for dinner or just to shop. They loved spending time together and were inseparable, Barbie also took many bus trips with her friends to various places. She had so many friends that she loved spending time with. Usually shopping, having lunch, or just visiting each other.

Barbie was such a ray of light who smiled and laughed often. She really appreciated all the small things in life and always had the most positive attitude, even during her hardest times. She was never shy about telling someone that she loved you or was proud of you, she gave the best hugs and really took time picking out the perfect gift for people she cared about. She always said that she loved everyone, and no one ever doubted her.

Barbie is survived by her devoted husband, Denver C Hough, who was by her side for over 30 years. They married on January 2, 1998.
