Benny Thompson Knight, 81, of Cambridge, died Thursday (April 30, 2009) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born December 15, 1927 in Byesville, son of the late Charley Knight and Annabel (Thompson) Knight. Mr. Knight was a former employee of Cambridge Glass and Universal Pottery. He also had worked at RCA and later retired from NCR. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served from 1945 to 1947. He was a life member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901. Mr. Knight attended Cambridge High School. He was an avid area sports fan of both the college and high school levels. He played softball and also was a bowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bob Knight; a sister, Virginia Reither; and a nephew, Terry Reither. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Wells) Knight of the home, whom he married on November 28, 1969; a daughter, Betsy (& Gregg) Casillo of Cincinnati; a sister, Martha Stillion of Cambridge; two nephews, John Stillion and Brian Knight both of Cambridge; and two nieces, Anne Stillion and Amy Stillion both of Cambridge. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Tuesday (May 5, 2009) at 11 a.m. with Evang. Bruce Daugherty officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
