Bertha L. Mercer, 99, of Quaker City, died Wednesday (May 9, 2007) at the Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born December 20, 1907 in Noble County, daughter of the late John DeLong and Alice (House) DeLong. She married Walter Mercer on June 25, 1927. Mrs. Mercer was a homemaker and a Sunday schoolteacher. She was a sixty-year member of the Beaver Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in by her husband, Walter Mercer, who died in 1981; a brother, Ralph Delong; and a sister, Hazel Rataiczak. She leaves two daughters, Patricia Morris of Quaker City and Quintella (& Bill) Pickenpaugh of Quaker City; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where services will be held on Saturday (May 12, 2007) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cecil Betts officiating. Burial will be at Beaver Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver Baptist Church.
