Betty L. Brothers, 84, of Quaker City, died Wednesday (January 16, 2013) at Red Carpet Health Care Center, Cambridge. She was born May 11, 1928 in Old Washington, daughter of the late Blaine Kennedy and Lona (Michael) Kennedy. Mrs. Brothers was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deacon. She was also a member of the Upper Room Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex, Warren, and Bernard Kennedy; and a sister, Mae Kelch. She is survived by her husband, Ray Brothers Jr., whom she married June 19, 1948; two sons, Gordon (& Nancy) Brothers of Claysville and Ken (& Beth) Brothers of Canton; two daughters, Kathy (& David) Lake of Ft. Myers FL and Susan (& Eric) St. Clair of Senecaville; seventeen grandchildren, Megan (& Zach) Zimmer, Abby Brothers, Ryan St. Clair, Sara St. Clair, Nicole (& Joe) Smith, Joshua (& Tasha) Brothers, Kayla (& Micah) Jordan, John Brothers, J.J. Brothers, Felicity Brothers, Christina Seich, Susie (& Fred) Nisly, Cameron Brothers, Traci (& Sam) Watson, Jacob Stoffer, Zared Haines, and Ashlie Ponce; four great-grandchildren, Mason Brothers, Jordan Brothers, Aubrey Brothers, and Serenity Smith. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held on Saturday (January 19, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Merlin Wentworth and Pastor Andy Woods officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Betty's name to one of the following organizations: 1) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Old Washington Presbyterian Church, 227 Old National Road, Old Washington OH 43768.
