Betty L. Geese, 93, of Cambridge, died Friday (March 29, 2019) at Altercare of Cambridge.
She was born on August 24, 1925 in Derwent, daughter of the late John Van Dyke and Annie P. (Nicholson) Van Dyke.
Betty served the Cambridge City Schools as a cook. She was a lifelong homemaker, enjoyed going to casinos and traveling, and playing bingo and square dancing at the Cambridge Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the 7th Street Methodist Church in Cambridge. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Brown High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Geese, who passed away on May 5, 1997; a son-in-law, Ron Zvolenski; and two sisters, Wynoma Long and Iris Kackley.
She is survived by a son, Bruce (& Connie) Geese of Cambridge; two daughters, Linda Zvolenski of Braddock Heights, MD, and Ronda (& Ernest) Hollingshead of Norwich; seven grandchildren, Matthew (& Jill) Zvolenski, Tamara (& John) Bird, Shanee (& Harold) Rice, Kyle (& Jamie) Geese, Ashley (& Justin) Tyo, Nicole (& Cody) Dysert and Adam (& Morgan) Hollingshead; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (April 2, 2019) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (April 3, 2019) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow at Guernsey County Memory Gardens in Cambridge.
