Betty Kearney, 83, of Byesville, passed away Sunday (November 23, 2008) at her home. She was born on March 14, 1925 in Liberty Township (Guernsey County), daughter of the late James Wilber Johnson and Olive Ruth (Wallace) Johnson. Mrs. Kearney was an operator for thirty-six years with General Telephone. She was a graduate of Brown High School. Mrs. Kearney was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Cambridge. She was a member of the VFW Post 2901 Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Kearney; and three brothers, Wallace, Richard and Tom Johnson. She leaves two sons, David (& June) Fisher of Kimbolton and Dick Fisher of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Stacy Fisher of Austin TX and David Fisher II of Arizona; and a special friend, Andy Froncek of Byesville. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Wednesday (November 26, 2008) at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
