Betty Lou Walter, 66, of Cambridge, died Sunday (January 24, 2010) at the Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for four years. She was born April 14, 1943 in Cambridge, daughter of the late George Leeper and Ritta Lucille (Jeffries) Shearer. Mrs. Walter had worked as a waitress at Coney Island, the Elks Lodge and the Plaza. She also had worked at Buckeye Laundry. She was Pentecostal by faith. She was a member of the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edison Walter, who died in 1982. They were married in 1959. Also deceased is a son, George Walter; a sister, Judy Beagle; and three grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Thomas Edison Walter of Noble County, Kenny Robert Walter of Byesville, James Thomas Walter of Byesville and Johnathan Lee Walter of Cambridge; three daughters, Jayne Ann Walter of Cambridge, Debra Lynn Walter of Byesville and Tammy Potopsky of Cambridge; three brothers, George A. Leeper of Byesville, John Leeper of Byesville and Michael Beghin of Massillon; four sisters, Georgianna King of Arkansas, Sarah Mancircie of Arkansas, Ruthie Kennedy of Byesville and Eithel Patterson of Cambridge; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; an aunt; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (January 27, 2010) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northwood Cemetery Mausoleum, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
