Betty L. Winnett, 89, of Cambridge, died Thursday (January 31, 2013) at the Beckett House at New Concord. She was born January 18, 1924 in Dennison, daughter of the late Raymond Ross and Sara (Fannan) Ross. Mrs. Winnett helped her husband, "Shorty", found ACE Disposal Company in 1961, and dedicated her life to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford "Shorty" Winnett, who died May 13, 2007. They were married March 8, 1947. Also deceased are three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three sons, Howard (& Marcia) Winnett of Cambridge, Jack (& Mary) Winnett of Athens, and Gerald (& Kathy) Winnett of Senecaville; a daughter, Nancy (& Scott) Philpot of Pittsburgh PA; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (& Tim) Denniston, Kristin Winnett, Shaun Winnett, Kevin (& Roxanne) Winnett, Lindsey Winnett, Jason Winnett, Jamie Winnett, and Karlie Winnett; and two great-grandchildren, Amya Winnett and Wilford "Will" Denniston. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Monday (February 4, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
