Bobby R. Ziegler, 85, of Cambridge, died Monday (March 23, 2015) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born September 27, 1929 in Meigs County, son of the late Lowell Ziegler and Lola (Miller) Ziegler. Mr. Ziegler retired from Columbia Gas, where he had worked as a corrosion technician. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 21 of Athens and a member of the Carriage Travel Club. Mr. Ziegler was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Mae Root. He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. (Lawson) Ziegler of the home, whom he married January 29, 1955; a son, Douglas R. (& Brenda K.) Ziegler of Cambridge; a daughter, Debora (& Gary) Lyons of Cambridge; a sister, Grace Coen of Florida; five grandchildren, Amanda (& Daniel) Bradshaw, Curtis Ziegler, Ryan Ziegler-Lyons, Tracy Lyons, and Adam Lyons; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Graveside services and burial will be held Friday (March 27, 2015) at 11 a.m. at the Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, with Pastor Willard Love officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Albany VFW Post #9893 in conjunction with the Athens American Legion Post #21.
