Bonnie Jean (Anker) Bakos

Bonnie Jean (Anker) Bakos, 76, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday morning (April 30, 2009) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio, with her family at her side. Mrs. Bakos was born February 6, 1933 in Liberty Township, Guernsey County, Ohio. Mrs. Bakos had worked at J.J. Newberry's, Montgomery Wards and the Guernsey County Board of Elections. She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Cancer Copers, Ostomy Club of Zanesville, and Cambridge Senior Citizens Center. She was an active participant in Relay for Life. Mrs. Bakos was also a member of the Guernsey County Democrat Club, a Democrat Executive Board member, was elected Center Township Democratic Central committee woman and was past treasurer of Guernsey Co. P.E.R.I. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and embroidery, baking and cooking, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin Anker and Velma Ann Thatcher Anker; a brother, James Anker and three infant brothers; and a sister, Alverta Callihan. She is survived by her husband, Michael "Bud" Bakos of Cambridge; a son, Jim (Paula) Bakos of Byesville; a daughter, Cheryl (Dave) Forman of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Chris (Julie) Bakos of Peoria IL, Matt (Nicole) Bakos of Xenia; Isaac Forman and Ethan Forman both of Cambridge; two great-grandchildren, Braeden and Peyton Bakos; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where wake services will be held Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday (May 4, 2009) at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Guernsey County Cancer Society, 927 E Wheeling Ave., Suite 205, Cambridge; or 2) Coper's Cancer Support Group, 1341 Clark St., Cambridge.
