Burdette Parry Jr

January 28, 1950 — October 9, 2025

Cambridge

Burdette Parry Jr., of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, surrounded by the family and friends he loved so deeply—and who loved him just as much. Born in Glendale, West Virginia, on January 28, 1950, Burdette was the second of six children born to the late Burdette and Norma Lee (Dolen) Parry.

He is survived by his son, William Burdette Parry, daughter-in-law Tiffany Parry, and his cherished granddaughters Megan, Emma Grace, and Sarah, who brought him endless pride and joy. He also leaves behind his siblings David (Peggy) Parry, Martha (Joe) Seresun, Larry (Jennie) Parry, and Ron (Tammy) Parry, along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Burdette was also blessed with many special people in his life, including his nephew Dylan Parry and his close friends Harold Glosser and Kenny Warehime.

Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Donald Parry, his nephew Eric Rossiter, and his longtime companion Patricia Evans.

Burdette was a truly one-of-a-kind person, known for his unique mannerisms, lighthearted spirit, and memorable sayings. He lived a life defined by service, hard work, and unwavering love and support for those around him. A proud graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1969, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971, where he was in combat with the 458th Transport Company, operating PBR boats.

His dedication to fellow veterans continued throughout his life as a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 2901, where he volunteered in nearly every capacity, including Post Commander and Trustee. He was known for stopping in daily to "sign up" and spend time with his veteran community. In recognition of his passionate commitment to supporting fellow veterans, Burdette was honored as Guernsey County Veteran of the Year in 2016.

Burdette loved to work and took pride in every job he held. He worked at Shield Alloy for 25 years, retiring in 2018. He often spoke fondly of his early days working at Jeffries Motors with the "Dodge Boys" and for his brother at Guernsey Monuments. More recently, he worked at Riesbeck's until 2021 and as a driver for the Guernsey County Veteran Services until 2024.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures—eating candy, fishing, and taking car rides to look for deer. He cherished visits to the old family farm in western Pennsylvania, and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Burdette had a deep appreciation for classic cars, spending countless hours at car shows and reading and talking about them. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially watching his granddaughters play basketball, softball, and cheerleading.

A memorial service will be held at the V.F.W. Post 2901 at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Burdette's name to:
