Carl "Red" H. Mathers

Carl H. "Red" Mathers, 86, of Cambridge, died Thursday (July 23, 2020) at his home.

He was born June 26, 1934 in Indian Camp, son of the late Dewey Mathers and Nellie (Wilson) Mathers.

Mr. Mathers retired from RCA and was a farmer.  His favorite things included farming, a good chew and a cold Mountain Dew, his swing, and July family reunions.  He enjoyed attending truck and tractor pulls and going to auctions and sale barns.  Loved to work with no labor is how he lived his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen (Hardy) Mathers, who died September 24, 2012.  They were married February 8, 1964.  Also deceased is a brother, Robert Mathers; a sister, Lucille Bugg; a son-in-law, Tom Morris; and a brother-in-law, Dick Schaub.

He is survived by a son, Henry "Bo" (Terri) Mathers of Cambridge; three daughters, Vonda (Ted) Tipple, Sue Ann (Dick) Schultz, and Carla Morris (Ralph Taylor) all of Cambridge; a sister, Bonnie Schaub; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and close friends both young and old; and his pets, Buddy, Bella, and Sparky.

Private family visitation will be held.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Mt. Hermon Cemetery on Tuesday (July 28, 2020) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.  Please observe current social distancing recommendations and wear a face covering if possible.
