Carl Neiss Jr.

Carl Neiss Jr., a resident of Coshocton for twenty-nine years and a resident of Cambridge for thirty-five years, passed away at age 91 on Tuesday (May 26, 2015) at his home. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Catherine (Rager) Neiss; his son, Edward Ernest Neiss; his granddaughter, Kimberly Williams; and his extended family and friends. Carl was born March 24, 1924 in New Bedford, son of the late Carl Neiss Sr. and Eva (Sheetz) Neiss. He was raised in Pearl and graduated from Fresno High School in 1941. Carl married Maxine on September 6, 1946 and became the proud father of Ed on April 28, 1947. Maxine and Carl were happily married for sixty-eight years. Carl served his country in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII as a member of the US Army. He worked for the Ohio Power Company for over forty years. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Coshocton, where he had been a deacon and an elder. Carl served on the Coshocton City School Board for two terms. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #0096, Elks Lodge #446, VFW Lodge of Coshocton, and Cambridge VFW Post #2901. He was also a Red Cross volunteer at the S.E.O.M. Center for twenty years. Throughout his life, Carl enjoyed playing golf with his son and loved all sports. He volunteered as a Little League baseball and basketball coach. He was a member of the Senior League at Wildfire Golf Course in New Concord. No calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be held to honor Carl's life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made in Carl's name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
