Carol Lee (Swain) Miller, 73, of Quaker City, passed away Sunday (December 25, 2011) at the Autumn Health Care Center of Cambridge. She was born August 17, 1938 in Wadsworth, daughter of the late Florence Vietta Barnhart and Arthur H. Swain. Carol lived in Wadsworth until 1985, when she then moved with her husband upon his retirement to Quaker City. Carol was an avid quilter and winner of many Guernsey County fair prizes for her quilts, produce, and canned goods. She was previously a very active member of the Mt. Zwingli United Church of Christ in Wadsworth. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, Church Preschool, and Kvam's Kinder Camp for many years in the Wadsworth area. She was currently a member of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church. Carol was a very active member of the Southeastern Ohio Medical Center's Arthritis Aquatics. She was a 1956 graduate of Highland High School and attended Akron University in the 1990's. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Bruce, and Lawrence Swain. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hill Miller Jr. of the home; two daughters, Rebecca J. Miller of Tucson AZ and Christina B. (& Eric) Richards and families of Creston; two sons, Charles D. (& Susan) Miller and family of Salesville and David A. (& Cristen) Miller and family of San Antonio TX; two sisters, Doris Mae Swain of Sedgwick KS and June Conway of Doylestown; a brother, Ted (& Cheryl) Swain of Wadsworth; a sister-in-law, Peggy Swain of Copley; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday (December 28, 2011) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Merlin Wentworth officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
