Catherine "Kate" R. Strauss

Catherine R. "Kate" Strauss, 88, of Cambridge, passed away at 10 p.m. Friday (June 8, 2012) at the Cardinal House. She was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Cambridge, daughter of the late John Strauss and Christina (Supan) Strauss. Miss Strauss retired from the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association, following 25 years of service. She was also formerly associated with the City Loan and Ohio Bureau of Employment Service. She was a lifetime member of Christ Our Light Parish (St. Benedict Catholic Church). She was a graduate of St. Benedict Catholic School. She was past president and member emeritus of The Pilot Club of Cambridge. Kate loved music, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Cecilia Cretes, Sister Ann Strauss, Frances King, Mary Cesner, Dorothy Strauss, and baby Christina; and six brothers, Fred, William, John, Thomas, Bernard and Richard Strauss. She is survived by a number of dear nieces and nephews, including David and Pam Cesner of Cambridge; and many good friends. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a Christian Wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday (June 12, 2012) at Christ Our Light Parish, Cambridge, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Borer officiating. In keeping with Kate's wishes, a cremation will take place. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge.
