Cecil L. Hall, 85, a long-time resident of Quaker City, died Saturday (May 26, 2018) at Astoria Place of Barnesville. He was born June 24, 1932 in Quaker City, son of the late Homer Cecil Hall and Anna Rosena (Miller) Hall. Mr. Hall was a retired teacher and farmer. He taught agriculture, math, and English at Quaker City Elementary School, Zane Trace High School, and Buckeye Trail High School. He attended Muskingum College and later earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture from The Ohio State University. He served on the school boards of Quaker City for two years and East Guernsey Schools for five years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau. Mr. Hall was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Miller; and a grandson, Mark Aron Wells. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Thompson) Hall, whom he married June 22, 1952; a son, Stephen (& Deanna) Hall of Salesville; three daughters, Tina (& Mark) Secrest of Belmont, Vickie Snider of Edgewater FL, and Teresa McBride of Edgewater FL; two brothers, Homer Hall Jr. of Rockford and Vernon (& Eileen) Hall of Quaker City; ten grandchildren, Kimberly (& Benjamin) Zilka of Cambridge, Terri Jean (& Dan) Nielsen of Kernersville NC, Jeremy (& Jessie) Hall of Salesville, Michele Swallie of Bethesda, Amanda (& Jeff) Phillips of Troy PA, Heath (& Paige) Swallie of Edgewater FL, Joshua (& Nicolette) Secrest of Belmont, Craig (& Danielle) Secrest of Quaker City, Crystal (& Chad) Antill of Belmont, and Ami (& Shawn) McDowell of Salesville; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday (May 31, 2018) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held Friday (June 1, 2018) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Lee officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established at Citizens Bank of Quaker City for the "East Guernsey Girls Softball Scholarship, in memory of Cecil L. Hall."
