Charles Lee Cornelius, 72, of Cambridge passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home.

Charles was born March 27, 1954, in Cambridge, a son to the late Floyd "Sam" Cornelius and Evelyn (Brickles) Cornelius of Cambridge.

Charles worked for thirty-eight years with the Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Scottish Rite, Shriners, Guernsey County Senior Citizen's Center, and Cambridge Lion's Club. When he wasn't volunteering with the many organizations he was involved with, Charles enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns, going to the Dirt Track, watching Sprint Cup races, and going on long drives. When his children were younger, he enjoyed going to their music and sporting events and was the President of the Cambridge Little League.

He is preceded in death by his father.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by, his former spouse, Monique Spilker of the home; his sons, Brandon Cornelius of Cambridge and Cameron (& Javier Caraballo) Cornelius of New York; his siblings, Marry Ann McCulloch, Nancy (& Gale) Bates, Samuel (& Peggy) Cornelius, and Robert Cornelius; and his three grandchildren, Aiden, Carson and Maci.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Guernsey, especially Desiree and Julie, for the care and compassion for Charles.
