Charles O. Harper, 73, of Quaker City, died Tuesday (March 8, 2016) at his home. He was born September 26, 1942 in Barnesville, son of the late James L. "Bus" Harper and Wanda (Johnson) Harper. Mr. Harper retired from Ohio River Collieries, where he had been an equipment operator. He had also worked for Oxford Township. He loved farming and running his heavy equipment & tractors. He enjoyed spending his time working on cars and painting them, as well as motorcycles. Mr. Harper was a member of the Mount Zion Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Harper; two brothers, Ronnie L. Harper and Donald L. Harper; and a nephew, Randy Harper. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (King) Harper, whom he married August 27, 1966; a son, Charles (& Tarah) Harper II of Quaker City; two daughters, Deborah (& Ron) Roberson of Salesville and Donna (& Rick) Blackburn of Quaker City; a brother, Dean (& Billie) Harper of Morristown; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held Saturday (March 12, 2016) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the following people: the ICU girls at Southeastern Med, United Ambulance, Hospice of Guernsey, Dr. Pat Goggin, and Dr. Mayhari.
