Charles Robert Mourer, 82, of New Concord, passed away Tuesday (February 12, 2008) at his home. He was born on November 18, 1925 in Guernsey County, son of the late Lorne Mourer and Addy (Nelson) Mourer. Mr. Mourer was a life-long farmer. He also retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was in maintenance for twenty-five years. He enjoyed farming and coon hunting. He loved his work horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Mourer; a brother, Arthur Mourer; and two sisters, Alice Kennedy and Sara Seidl. He leaves his wife, Pearl Ruth (Durben) Mourer of the home, whom he married on April 7, 1945; five sons, Donald (& Barbara) Mourer, Chuck (& Marcia) Mourer of Coshocton, Bill (& Brenda) Mourer of New Concord, Tim (& Toni) Mourer of Cambridge and Wayne (& Pam) Mourer of Cambridge; three daughters, Wanda (& Ronald) Colvin of Cambridge, Wanita (& Mark) Oliver of Kimbolton and Marsha (& George) Wilson of Lore City; twenty-three grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Calling hours will also be observed on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Flat Ridge Community Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (February 16, 2008) at 11:30 a.m. at the Flat Ridge Community Church with Rev. Dave Seibert and Rev. Rodney West officiating. Burial will be at Flat Ridge Cemetery in Knox Township.
