Chester E. Hall, 91, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday (Oct. 2, 2010) at the Red Carpet Health Care Center in Cambridge. He was born May 2, 1919, in Akron, son of the late Valentine E. and Helen (Howard) Hall. Mr. Hall retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, after 20 years of service. He also worked at Montgomery Ward in the tire department and Buckeye Security. He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. He was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where he was a deacon for more than 30 years. Chester enjoyed working, all water sports, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lucille; two sons, Dennis "Denny" and Wayne Hall; and an infant daughter. He leaves his wife, Melva A. (Stoney) Hall, Cambridge, whom he married on July 17, 1976; five sons Gary (Lisa) Hall, Alden, Mich., Dwayne (YeVonda) Hall, Louisiana, Gene (Rebecca) Pointer, St. Robert, Mo., Andy Pointer, Cambridge, and Bobby Pointer, Senecaville; daughter-in-law, Susan Hall, Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Larry (Jean) Hall, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday (October 5, 2010) at the Church of God of Prophecy in Cambridge. Services will follow with Brother Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery with military services being conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
