Chester Ervin Staffey, 65, of Cambridge, died Friday (June 27, 2014) at Licking Memorial Hosptial, Newark. He was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Zanesville, son of the late Samuel Reuben and Nettie Baker Staffey. Mr. Staffey had served as a truck driver for several companies. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship. He had a heart that enjoyed helping people, he also loved animals. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis Staffey, Chuck Staffey, Daniel Staffey, Clarin Staffey, Donnie Woods, Ronnie Woods, and John English; and sisters, Becky Galiher, Mary Elizabeth Stewart, and Jane Staffey. He leaves his wife, Tina Lashley Staffey, who he married Jan. 11, 1992; two sons, Dennis (Paige) Staffey of Heath and Stephen Staffey of Keysville, Ga.; three brothers, Sam (Wanda) Staffey of Heath, Ralph (Libby) Staffey of Cambridge and Richard (Peggy) Woods of Elk Grove, Calif.; four sisters, Mary Staffey of Byesville, Rose Heighshoe of Heath, Evelyn Smith of Newark and Jean Stansberry of Zanesville; four grandsons, Jacob, Brian, Jonathan and Brandon Staffey; and a granddaughter, Isabella Staffey. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, June 30 at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Burton Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens, at a later date.
