Chloris "Corky" Ann Vance, 87, of New Concord, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Morrison House.
Corky was born October 22, 1936, in Cambridge, the daughter of the late William James and Florence Mae (Hill) Griffith.
Corky graduated from New Concord High School and earned four certificates from Muskingum Area Technical College, three in accounting and one in bookkeeping. She also served in the Marine Corp and retired as a receptionist for Dr. Emmanuel Noche. Corky was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary 386 where she was a Past State President and the former Treasurer of the Cambridge branch. She also enjoyed bowling and reading and was a Christian by faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Bertini, her son, Jody Lynn Bertini, several brothers and sisters, and her grandson Austin Bertini.
Corky is survived by her husband, David Vance, whom she married July 4, 1976; her son, William James (Jancie) Bertini of Heath; her step- son, David (& Hope) Vance of Zanesville; her daughter, Maurita (& Carl) Oakley) of Coal Run; step- daughters, Janie (& Gary) Downerd and Rebecca (& Scot) Bichard both of Cambridge; six brothers, Phil (& Sharon) Griffith of Kimbolton, Danny (& Betsy) Griffith of Jacksonville, FL, George (& Suzie) Griffith of North Salem, Tim (& Peggy) Griffith of Byesville, Buddy (& Betty) Barr of New Concord, and Terry (& Pam) Griffith of Norwich; his sister, Brenda Copley of Cambridge; seventeen grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; and several friends.
Calling hours will be held at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Cambridge from 11AM to 1PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with the service immediately to follow at 1PM. Burial will take place at Guernsey Memory Gardens.
