Dr. Clarence "Doc" Apel, 95, of Cambridge passed away Tuesday (April 9, 2019) at the Cambridge Place.
He was born August 2, 1923 in Ironton and was the son of the late Chester and Dorothy (Million) Apel.
Dr. Apel was a 1952 graduate of The Ohio State University, a Navy corpsman veteran of WWII, a life member of VFW #2901, and was a General Practitioner for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lillian S. (Clark) Apel whom he married December 16, 1949 and passed away November 21, 2005; one brother Floyd Apel; one sister Dorothy Mae Clapham; one niece Julie Biggs; one nephew Jeffery Apel.
He is survived by two sons, Tom Apel of Cambridge and David Apel of Powell; a brother, Chester (& Barbara) Apel of Sciotoville; a sister, Anita (& Joe) Biggs of California; two nephews, Joseph Apel of Lubbock, TX, and Dustin Apel of Sciotoville; two nieces, Rhonda and Cheri.
Visitation will be Tuesday (April 16 th ) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will be 11:00 a.m.Wednesday with Fr. Robert Borer officiating. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
