Clarence E. "Jim" Black, 71, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (December 26, 2006) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born April 25, 1935 in Cambridge, son of the late James Orville Black and Ethel B. (Griest) Black. Mr. Black was a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant, serving for twenty-three years. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge and a life member of Cambridge VFW Post 2901. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kaye O. Black. He leaves two sons, James Black of Cambridge and Michael (& Debbie) Black of Cambridge; two daughters, Cheryl (& Don) Gadd of Byesville and Sandy Tilton of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Betty Elaine "Sally" Cochran of Cambridge; and a special cousin. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (December 29, 2006) at 11 a.m. Burial will be Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
