Cletis J. Pennington, 84, of Cambridge, died Friday (March 2, 2007) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born No. 9, 1922, son of the late James Ezra and Eliza Bell Holmes pennington. Mr. Pennington was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired station manager for the former Standard Oil Co. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and coon hunter. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Guy, Paul, Reven and Bass; and three sisters, Marie, Vera and Stella Mae. He leaves his wife Beulah Scott Pennington, whom he married June 11, 1946; a son, Darrell (Susie) Pennington of Cambridge; four daughters, Josette Stage and Kathy Pennington of Cambridge, and twins Carmen Pennington and Carla (Ronnie) Stephens of Cambridge; two brothers, Rex (Kay) Pennington of Cambridge and Bob (Verla) Pennington of Virginia; four sisters, Brenda Pennington, Verta Lanning and Lois (Don) Walters, all of Cambridge and Lena (Winfred) Dotson of Indiana; five granddaughters, Angela Voorhies and Terry (Trapper) Brister of Cambridge, Connie Stage of Cambridge, Beth (Steve) Kuhn of Byesville, Shelly (Tommy)Kenworthy of Reynoldsburg and Julie (Corey) Crutchfield of New Concord; and 10 great grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens with military graveside services by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
