Cloyd S. Stack

Cloyd S. Stack, 93, of Cambridge, died Saturday (November 25, 2017) at Southeastern OH Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

He was born May 11, 1924 in Noble County, son of the late William M. Stack and Mary Jane (Neiswanger) Stack.

Mr. Stack was a salesman, having worked at Cambridge Glass, Cambridge Pottery, and retired from Harper Hutchison.

He was a member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901, Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386, Cambridge Moose Lodge, DAV, and the American Legion of Neffs.

Mr. Stack was a US Army veteran, having served 511 consecutive days during WWII in the Rome Arno Italian Campaign, the Southern France Campaign, and the Germany Campaign. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Three Bronze Campaign Stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal for his service.

He loved his country and was very proud of his service.

He enjoyed going out dancing with his "posse".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie (Fields) Stack, who died in 2002; four brothers, Cecil, Clayton, Clarence, and Clifford; a sister, Pauline Zjifert; and a granddaughter, Shelly Leeper.

He is survived by four sons, Bruce (& Polly) Stack of Cambridge, Robert (& Ricca) Stack of Chillicothe, William Stack (& Mary Pontius) of New Concord, and Jeffrey Stack (& Durwood Warner) of Galena; a daughter, Jan (& David) Leeper of Cambridge; a sister, Rose Marie (& Billy) McCabe of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, Brett, and Tyler.

Family and friends may call Wednesday (November 29, 2017) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randolph White officiating.
