Courtney Alan Cowden, 70, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at his home in Newcomerstown.
He was born on February 26, 1952, in Zanesville, a son to Hattie Ridgeway and the late Kyle Cowden.
He was a 1970 graduate of John Glenn High School. Courtney retired from NAPA. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to sixties music, spending time with his family, and riding his three-wheeler. Courtney was Christian by Faith.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Alan Phillips.
Courtney is survived by his wife, Delores (Wilson) Cowden, whom he married on June 28, 1980; his mother, Hattie (Tom) Ridgeway of Cambridge; his daughters, Heather (Darren) Barnhouse of Zanesville and Megan (Jeremy) Fries of Newcomerstown; his two sisters, Joy (Jeff) Walker of Cambridge and Elaine (Wayne) Phillips of Cambridge; and his three grandchildren, Sydney Dodd, Kylee Roe, and Maci Fries; his good friend, Randy Huntsman of Georgia; his good cousin, John Smith of New Concord and several other cousins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Community Hospice for the care they provided.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, from 4-6PM with a service on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11AM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Roger Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
