Daniel Dean Dearth Sr.

June 30, 1930 — March 8, 2011

Daniel Dean Dearth Sr., 80, of Lore City, died Tuesday (March 8, 2011) at his home. He was born June 30, 1930 in Cambridge, son of the late George Dearth and Norma (Jordan) Dearth. Mr. Dearth was a lifelong dairy farmer. He also was a bus driver and maintenance supervisor for the East Guernsey Local School District, retiring after thirty years of service in 1993. He had also worked a Ekco and for the Division of Wildlife. He was a graduate of Lore City High School. Mr. Dearth loved to cook and bake, and was quite the handyman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. (Canel) Dearth, who died in 2006. They were married February 18, 1950 and were married for fifty-six years. Also deceased are two brothers, Albert and Clifford; two sisters, Evelyn Roth and Glenna Jones; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Dearth. He is survived by two sons, Dean Dearth of Lore City and Aaron (& Staci) Dearth of St. Clairsville; a daughter, Denise Dearth of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Dearth of Columbus; six grandchildren, Christa (& Jerry Ralph), Steven, Wesley (& Julia), Mallorie, Cody, and Amelia; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, and Arya. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (March 11, 2011) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carol Touvell officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's name to Young Life Ministry, PO Box 633, Cambridge OH 43725.
