David "Papa David" C Speer

David C. Speer "Papa David", age 75, peacefully went to be in God's loving arms on 12/11/2023 at his home. He was born October 15, 1948 in Zanesville to the late Richard and Muriel Speer. To everyone that met him, he made an impact. He was a devout Catholic and a man of faith. Throughout his life he was a hard worker and was never afraid to learn something new. His career was eclectic ranging from his service in the Navy, teaching, accounting, and computer programming. The job he carried he was most passionate was being a dad and papa. He was a lover of humanity and strived to treat all he encountered with love and acceptance. His Christmas wish each year was World Peace.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Marion Speer, his brother Mickey, his niece Ashley, sister-in-law Cathy, and his parents.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory three daughters Heather (John) Beavers, Alisha (Shane) Novick, and Caitlin (Chad) Lander. Countless family including brother Shawn Speer, brother-in-law Michael (Cindi) Mazek, sister-in-law Sherry Speer, nephews Jonathan and Ryan Speer.

Papa David loved his grandchildren Cora, Claire, Jazek, Emberly, and Declan. He will always be their cheerleader no matter where life takes them.

David was friends with anyone who needed or wanted companionship. One thing he was passionate about was caring for abandoned animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Guernsey County animal shelter and or adopting an animal in need.

He has opted to donate his body to Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine so future providers can learn. Due to this, a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
