David "Drew" Davis

David "Drew" Davis, 65, of Cambridge passed peacefully at home on Wednesday (April 13, 2011) surrounded by his family. He was born September 11, 1945 in Cambridge, son of the late David and Juanita (McNurland) Davis. Mr. Davis was a retired mental health administrator and social worker at the former Cambridge State Hospital. He was a 1963 graduate of Cambridge High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Muskingum College and also completed course work at Xavier University. Mr. Davis was a former member of the Elks. He was an avid Cambridge Glass collector. He was also the owner/operator of the "Cambridge Connection", a shop dealing in toys and sports memorabilia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant half-brother, Jon Rene' Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Hosfeld) Davis, whom he married June 24, 1972; three sons, Tony (Melissa) Davis of Winterville NC, Douglas (Samantha) Davis of Cambridge, and David (Jessica) Davis of Winterville NC; four grandchildren, Ashley Davis and Tyler Davis of Winterville NC, Lucy Davis and Sarah Davis of Cambridge; several friends, including special friends, Tom Sulsberger, Jim and Jane Gibson, and Diane Danaher. Family and friends may call on Monday (April 18, 2011) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be Tuesday (April 19, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Christ Our Light Parish or St. Benedict School, 701 Gomber Ave., Cambridge OH 43725; 2) Stop Nine Church of Christ, 60330 Southgate Rd., Byesville OH 43723; or 3) Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
