David W. Nicholson, 71, of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday (March 31, 2015) at his home. He was born October 25, 1943 in Cambridge, the second son of the late Dr. William H. Nicholson and Carabel (Seaman) Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson was raised in the First United Methodist Church of Cambridge. He was a 1961 graduate of Cambridge High School and attended both Ohio University, Athens and Kent State University, Kent. He was a former officer of the Cambridge Police Department, a former insurance claims adjuster, and formerly owned & operated Hall's Drive-In. He also owned a painting business in both Florida and Ohio from which he retired. Dave loved playing music, excelling on the coronet in his earlier years. Later he learned to play the piano and the bass fiddle. He performed in several bluegrass bands in the area for many years with his beloved bass. He was an avid bowler. Dave was a true Christian and had a close and personal relationship with God. He is survived by his former wife, Evelyn Burris Nicholson and their two children, Julianna (& Mike) Arguelles and Edward Nicholson of the Columbus area; two grandchildren, Michael and Isabelle; three brothers, Attorney William T. (& Pam) Nicholson, Judge John Mark (& Priscilla) Nicholson, and James I. (& Tammie) Nicholson; a sister, Carol V. (& John) Gaynor; and several nieces and nephews whom he genuinely loved along with their families. He especially relied on his sister-in-law, Pam, and his nieces, Cara and Peyton, who helped him greatly during his later years; and his four close friends, Kent, Ron, John, and Eli. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (April 8, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Pastor C. Robert "Bob" Hollins officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
