Don E. Beam, 88, of Cambridge, died Thursday (February 7, 2013) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 24, 1924 in Dayton, son of the late Murray Beam and Sherley (Saunders) Beam. Mr. Beam retired from NCR after over twenty years of service as a designer/engineer in both Dayton & Cambridge. He earned five patents for his designs. He was a member of Liberty Community Church of Cosby TN. Mr. Beam attended The Ohio State University and was a dedicated Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed his artwork and silversmithing. He often accompanied and helped his wife, Mary, with her art projects and shows. He was a former Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Kay Beam. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Todd) Beam, whom he married July 22, 1950; a son, Dan (& Kathy) Beam of Plain City; a daughter, Donna Beth (& Michael) High of Travers City MI; and two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Beam of Plain City and Adam (& Cynthia) High of Grand Rapids MI. Family and friends may call on Sunday (February 10, 2013) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Beavercreek OH.
