Don C. Milhoan, 83, of Cambridge passed away Saturday (March 24, 2012) at SEORMC. He was born January 23, 1929 in Martins Ferry and was the son of the late Carlos Frank Milhoan and Florence (Shimp) Rice. Don was the self-employed owner of a Dental Technician business for 52 years in Cambridge. He was a 1947 graduate of Cambridge High School, served in the Army Air Corps, and then graduated from The Ohio State University Dental Technician School in 1954, where he was a member of Phi Psi Fraternity. On the personal side, Don was a life member of Elks Lodge #448 and VFW post #2901. He was a former member of Cambridge Country Club where he was an active golfer, and former president of the Guernsey County O.S.U. Alumni Association. He served three terms on the Cambridge City Council. Don retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital after operating a Dental Clinic there for 23 years. Don's special passions in life were dancing, big band music, bowling, fishing, and golfing. He loved to travel and loved all types of flowers and animals. He was an avid fan of the Indians, Browns, Buckeyes and Cambridge Bobcats. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kae Milhoan in 1980. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Young) Milhoan whom he married May 26, 1985; two daughters, Amy Jo Johnston and Molly (Scott) Thivener both of Columbus; one step-daughter, Lisa (Dan) Baker of Cambridge; step-son, Lee (Lori) Ferry of Steubenville; two granddaughters, Samantha Johnston and Amanda Johnston both of Columbus; four step-grandsons, Nathan Ford of Zanesville, Luke (Jenny) Ford of New Concord, Joshua (Dana) Baker of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Brad (Brandi) Buchannan of Steubenville; one step-granddaughter Tara Jo (Eric) Conn of Steubenville; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Marian McDoniel of Cookeville, TN., Pat (Norman) Behrendt of Cambridge and Sandy Bryant of California, MO.; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday (March 28th) from 4-8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Cambridge Elks Lodge #448 will conduct a service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be11:00 a.m. Thursday (March 29th) at the funeral home with Rev. Max Berry officiating. Entombment will follow in Northwood Cemetery with military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
