Don W. Ritchey

Don W. Ritchey, 78, of Cambridge, died Thursday (March 7, 2019) at Genesis of Zanesville.

He was born July 13, 1940 in Cambridge, son of the late William Ray Ritchey and Neva Hope (Hostutler) Ritchey.

A 1959 graduate of New Concord High School, Mr. Ritchey retired from Motrim. He had also worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart.

He enjoyed writing flash fiction and was good at it.

Mr. Ritchey was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service to our country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Auer; and a step-son, Wyatt Knott.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Linda (Bates) Ritchey, whom he married April 9, 1971; his twin sons, Don Ritchey of Cambridge and Shawn (& Tasha) Ritchey of Cambridge; a stepdaughter, Nola Hickman of Gatlinburg TN; a brother, John David (& Shirley) Ritchey of Yuma AZ; two sisters, Sharon (& Dave) Stillion of Kershaw SC and Pam Ritchey of Cambridge; two step-grandchildren, Billy House and Kassie House both of New Concord; four nephews; six nieces; and two sisters-in-law, Marlene Neff of Byesville and Lucille LaCroix of Cambridge.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (March 13, 2019) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evang. Mark Beros officiating.

Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Thorn-Black Funeral Home (139 S 9 th St, Cambridge OH 43725) to help with funeral expenses.
