Donald E. Barton, 65, of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 31, 2014) his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 6, 1948 in Guernsey County, son of the late Clarence and Ethel (Christie) Barton. He was the owner of Don's Tree Service. Don was past commander of both the Buffalo and Byesville V.F.W. posts. He was also a member of the Cambridge Eagles. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Jean Barton; and a grandson, Jacob Ford. He is survived by his wife, Victoria (Dennis) Barton; a daughter, Jessica (& David) Ford of Cambridge; a brother, Clarence Frederick (& Evelyn) Barton of Cambridge; a sister, Brenda (& Curtis) DeBerry of Cambridge; a grandson, Kyler Ford; two stepchildren, Angela (& Joseph) Newberry of Vienna WV and Aaron Hanes of Cambridge; a special friend, Barb Jackson; and a special aide, Misty Downard. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday (June 5, 2014) with Evang. Mark Beros officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
