Donald D. Braun, 83, of Cambridge, died Friday (October 27, 2006) at Aultman Hospital, Canton, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born February 17, 1923 in McMechen WV, son of the late Chester C. Braun and Christine (Kreis) Braun. His wife, Maryella (Symes) Christie Braun, died as the result of the same accident. They were married on November 29, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Braun, who died March 27, 1993; a brother, Chester Braun; and a sister, Betty Lou Burlingame. Mr. Braun retired as store manager in 1983 from J.C. Penney Co. in Cambridge after 43 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of VFW Post 2901 and a life member of American Legion Post 52 in Bellaire. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 171 F. & A.M. of Logan, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus and Kambri Shrine Club of Cambridge. He was a member of Cambridge Kiwanis and past president & lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International. He was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian church. Mr. Braun was revered in the Cambridge area for his work on behalf of charitable organizations. He leaves two daughters, Donna (& Ralph) Harsch of Zanesville and Janice (& Robert) Weinhardt of Cuyahoga Falls; a brother, Kenneth K. Braun of Bowling Green; a sister, Janet B. Lewis of Marietta; four grandchildren, Melissa Miller of Adamsville, Jennifer (& Trevor) Fusner of Chandlersville, Erin Weinhardt of Chicago IL and Sarah Weinhardt of Dayton; four great-grandchildren, Travis, Hunter, Harrison and Hayden; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Burlingame of Marietta. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Masonic services will be at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (October 31, 2006) at the funeral home with Captain Robert Sears and Rev. Dr. Wallace Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Presbyterian Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O.
