Donald R. Davis Sr., 73, of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 2, 2009) at his home. He was born September 3,1935 in Cambridge, son of the late Paul Davis and Mary (Leeper) Davis. Mr. Davis worked at Cambridge Dairy, Caples Texaco and later retired as a mechanic for Southeastern Equipment. He was a graduate of Old Washington High School. He loved fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Berger) Davis; his step-mother, Celia Kate (Leeper) Davis; two sisters, Bonnie Savage and Patty Ulry; a brother, Robert "Ed" Davis; and two grandsons, Ricky and Randy Davis. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Ford) Davis of the home; two sons, Donald R. (& Alisha) Davis Jr. and Michael Paul Davis both of Cambridge; two daughters, Mary (& James) Savage of Salesville and Barbara (& Robert Dailey) Davis of Kipling; a sister, Dorothy Davis of Quaker City; four granddaughters, Loretta Dailey, Sarah Davis, Harley Houston and Mary Davis; a grandson, Donald M. Davis; four great-granddaughters, Holly Wilson, Bobbie Jo Wilson, Faith Dailey and Angel Dailey; a great-grandson, Brayden J. Custer; an aunt, Mabel Leeper of Cambridge; several nieces, nephews & cousins; and his caregiver, Sis Dailey. Family and friends may call on Tuesday (May 5, 2009) from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
