Donald L. "Donnie" Harper, 66, of Quaker City, went to be with the Lord and his son Randy, on Friday (March 30, 2012). Mr. Harper died at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born September 5, 1945 in Barnesville, son of the late James L. "Bus" Harper and Wanda (Johnson) Harper. Mr. Harper worked as a farmer and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He also was the former owner of Don's Shell in Quaker City. Mr. Harper was an Oxford Township Trustee for over thirty years. He was a member of the Kirkwood Masonic Lodge # 446 F & AM of Hendrysburg. He enjoyed being outdoors, everything from mowing his yard to sitting on the porch enjoying the evening sun. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He cherished all the time he could spend with his family, whether it be riding four-wheeler with the grandkids or cooking out on the grill. He was a proud husband, wonderful father, and an amazing grandpa who enjoyed every moment he was with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy L. Harper; a brother, Ronnie L. Harper; and his beagle, Remington. He is survived by his wife, Linda C. (Hannahs) Harper, whom he married July 1, 1967; a son, James L. "Stretch" (Jenny) Harper of Quaker City; a daughter, Kimberly D. (Carl) Harper of Barnesville; three granddaughters and three grandsons, Kayla C. Harper of Waco TX, Chandler K. Harper and Kyle L. Harper both of the home, Emalee P. Harper of Quaker City, Austin D. Haney and Caileigh D. Haney both of Barnesville; two brothers, Charles O. (Kathy) Harper of Quaker City and F. Dean (Billy) Harper of Morristown; many nieces, nephews, close family members and friends; and his beagle pup and good friend, Dixie. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (April 5, 2012) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Donald's name to Nationwide Childrens Hospital, 700 Childrens Drive, Columbus OH 43205-2664.
