Donald W. Mobley

Donald W. Mobley, 85, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 14, 1928 in Wheeling WV, son of the late William E. Mobley and Helen (Upperman) Mobley.

Mr. Mobley retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where he had been a social worker. He was a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

He earned his Master's Degree from West Virginia University. He was a big fan of the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

He was a member of the Cambridge Elks 446, Eagles Aerie 386, Moose Lodge 920, and a life member of VFW Post 2901. He was an avid tomato grower. Mr. Mobley was a US Army veteran and earned the rank of Captain during his service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen "Casey" (Coffee) Mobley, who died in 1989. They were married in 1949. Also deceased are two brothers, William Robert Mobley and James Bernard Mobley.

He is survived by two sons, Don Wayne (& Paula) Mobley of New Concord and Daniel W. (& Diana) Mobley of San Mateo CA; a daughter, Rebecca (& Juan) Leal of Kerrville TX; a sister, Helen (& Fred) Sills of Dayton; three grandchildren, Erin Mobley of Dayton, Andrea Mobley of Hamden CT, and Joseph Leal of Kerrville TX; and his special friends, Tom Sulsberger, Dale and Sharon Ward, and Quentin and Mary Knauer.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (March 15, 2014) at 2 p.m. with Jim Gibson officiating.

Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
