Donald V. Walter, 69, of Cambridge, died Saturday (December 23, 2006) at Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville. He was born September 5, 1937 in Byesville, son of the late Elmo Walter and Mary Evelyn (Cecil) Walter Parrett. Mr. Walter retired from Plastechs and formerly worked at Hamilton Beach and Westinghouse. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially deer hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. He leaves his wife, Linda M. (Burkhart) Walter of the home, whom he married December 7, 1957; a son, Donald W. (& Patti) Walter of Rochester NY; a daughter, Barbara E. Walter of St. Clairsville; three brothers, Michael (& Susan) Duffy of South Carolina, Ed Roberts of Winterset and Dave (& Debbie) Daniels of Cambridge; three sisters, Betty Jane Abrams of Byesville, Dorene Hughes of Byesville and Rosemary (& Bob) McCoy of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Nicole and Alyssa Walter, who referred to him as Grandpa Ohio; four grandchildren, John Lambes of Iraq, Kimberley Lambes of Columbus, Katie Bradshaw and Amanda Bradshaw both of Cambridge, who referred to him as Pap-Pa; his father-in-law, Albert Burkhart of Beallsville; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Wednesday (December 27, 2006) at 11:00 a.m. with Terry Caldwell officiating.
