Doris Thompson

October 22, 1916 — March 22, 2010

Doris Thompson, 93, of Cambridge, passed away on March 22 at the Beckett House in New Concord after extended illness. She was born in Sycamore Valley Ohio on October 22, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Willis (Curley) and Rosa May Baker. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Jeannine Thompson, Tom and Linda Thompson, John and Karen Thompson; daughter, Sally Thompson Prouty; grandchildren, Tom, Eric, Heather (Gregg) and Connon (Melissa) Thompson, Jon (Wendy) and Joel Thompson, Joy (Otto) Depenbrok, Lance Bloomberg (Yvette Quintela) and Staci Bloomberg; great-grandchildren, Dani and Kaela Thompson, Rachel Taylor, Gavin, Payton and Gates Thompson, Conon Thompson, Lucas Bloomberg and Eilie Jane Depenbrok. Doris enjoyed her family and friends, quilting, sewing for her family, playing the piano, gardening, caring for her flowers and attending concerts by the Cambridge City Band. Her Christian faith was central to her life and she supported multiple ministries. She was content with her life. A product of the Depression, she never wasted anything. She was able to stay in her own home until recently in large part due to the support and caring provided by Brad Dennis and his family. Doris's family would like to express sincere appreciation to all who have been helpful to her, including the amazing staff at the Beckett House. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cambridge City Band, c/o Berk Jones, PO Box 146, Cambridge OH 43725. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (March 24, 2010) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
